The Blue Pages...WHY? BY: CATMAN WEBB I am growing weary of the net. It seems like the net just becomes more and more chat, news(?), gossip, games, ads (and ads, and ads, and ads). There is knowledge, but always a price. If I ask for info of any real value, I end up at amazon.com, or somewhere I am offered a book to buy. Where is the interactive exploration of life? The feelings, philosophies, and exchange of free thinking? (without suffering through "join here"...and get your name on a mailing list) The Blue Pages are my attempt to establish a small corner on the net, that will allow people to meet, talk, express ideas, opinions, and maybe...just maybe, understand each other a little better. Chat rooms are cool, but how many people become something they are not, simply to live a life (virtually) that's really not their own? And Why? Do they feel their lives are so dreary or unimportant, that they have to create a persona other than their own? I feel that ALL life is important, and that every instance of it is of vast importance and concern. From a small green lizard in the Amazon River Basin, to a prostitute on the streets of a big city. Each contributes and/or effects our physical reality. As governments and religions from around the world, make decisions concerning all life, they also make judgement calls on the importance of all specie's lives. From imprisoning a pot smoker in Alabama, to eliminating entire species of plants and animals. What gives them the right? WE DO....We are complacent and quiet, and watch as destruction occurs, lives lost and ruined, and fervently hope that a change for the better will come. Government and Religion is the representation of all of mankind, and ultimately of our planet as a whole. I am not against government, nor religion...it's the fabric of human existence that binds us all. |
It's our approval (through complacency and blindness of events, or through actions and speech) that shapes the destiny of Earth. I truly don't mean to sound pretentious or preachy, simply, just trying to see reality for what it is, and where it's going. If you disagree, say so. There is a means to talk in these pages, directly, or indirectly. Say what you think,,or at least just say hi:) The Blue Pages are blue, not to represent a mood, but to represent water and sky, the source of life (and cuz I dig the color blue..heh heh). I record my philosophies, not to push my ideas off on anyone, but to open a dialogue, and to make a U-Turn away from the idle chatter, gossip, games, and ads (and ads, and ads...ad nauseum). Serious discussion doesn't have to be grim, nor a heated debate. Feel free to add some idle chat if that is enjoyable, because the pages are for people's enjoyment. But, don't limit this endeavor to "how's your weather" stuff. I believe that the human voice, heard and answered, makes people seem more real. It also helps people to better understand each other. The more you understand what makes someone else the way they are, the easier it is to understand them (and like them). Truth and enlightenment resides in all of us. But maybe through deeper communication, we can help lead each other out of darkness into the warm light of self-awareness and mutual understanding. We can do anything, if we join together as one. Hey....maybe people will even see what I am trying to accomplish with my sanctuary, and lend a hand. I, like everyone else, need help.
